Sarena Udani founded PajamaSutra in 2007 during a trip to India after completing her MFA from Stanford University. She noticed that while many loungewear brands sourced and manufactured their lines in India, few of these brands strayed beyond their target markets which did not include women of color. Sarena believes that there is a need for a brand that celebrates all women, and particularly focuses on a demographic that had always been left out of representation by the loungewear industry - South Asian women. At the same time, however, Sarena wanted all women to be included in her brand's reach, and in 2017 her dream was realized when PajamaSutra was honored to be the official robe sponsor for the Miss Universe competition. Delegates representing countries from all over the globe wore PajamaSutra robes while celebrating their uniqueness and common bonds of sisterhood.
A busy mom of three, Sarena believes that all women are goddesses, and deserve some "me time" every day...even if it is just for a few moments.
PajamaSutra is known for a flattering, feminine fit! Our dressing robes fit like an A-line wrap dress with an empire waist that's flat in the front and gathers gently at the small of your back. No frumpy loops or twisted belts - an attached belt ties gracefully at your hip.
A six-paneled skirt brings out the very best in your hips with a fit-and-flare silhouette.
Flattery will get you everywhere. You are truly gorgeous, and your loungewear should be worthy of your beauty.
You are perfect. Our fabrics are not.
Because PajamaSutra 100% cotton voile fabrics are block-printed by hand, you may notice small variations in color and print. We think it's charming, and we hope you do too!
For the earth goddesses
Our fabrics are printed using non-toxic dyes that are free from AZO and formaldehyde. Because our dyes are not fixed with harsh chemicals, we suggest washing your PajamaSutra loungewear using the cold water setting to prevent color from fading.
